Orientation (Module 1: 14 July 2018 ; Module 2: 28 July 2018)
Orientation is mandatory for all students. Event details will be given to all admitted students via email. it will be held on the first day of each module to familiarize students with HKUST's learning environment.
Students will be given helpful information to prepare them for their participation in the program. They will also be engaged in icebreaking activities and meet their classmates.
A campus tour led by HKUST undergraduate students will be conducted at the end of the orientation. NO prior registration is needed for this event.
In the past, we had recruited Class Representatives among the participants to help organzine and provide assistance in program activities.These stundents have done an excellent job in promotingn and hosting the farewell parties for their fellow classmates.
During their service periods, they not only gained and enhanced many practical skills including communication, interpersonal, organizational and time management skills, they also fromed valuable friendships with the people they worked with.
For this summer, we are recruiting 10 - 12 students from each module to becoming SI Ambassadors. AT the end of their service period, they will be awarded a certificate of appreciation.
Enrichment activities aim at enhancing student's learning outside of the classrooms. They normally take place during lunch period and require prior registrations. Online registrations will be available for admitted students.
Seats will generally be given on a first-come-first-served basis unless stated otherwise, given there is no clash in the student's schedule. Those who a given a seat for the registered event will receive a confirmation email.
Farewell part has become a tradition for Summer Institute participants to wrap up their great time at HKUST. Each module will have its own farewell party and they will be held on the last days of each module. Students will get together for a fun celebration of their success in completing the program.
